Do not be alone at Christmas

Some are looking forward to it, for others it is a sad lonely time. We are just before the most beautiful party: Christmas.

Why is it the best party? Because the family then comes together, eats together, laughs, unpacks presents. Or, because you have romantic holidays with your loved one and maybe even spend a holiday together. Christmas is romantic: candles are lit and Christmas carols ring out in the Advent season, these weeks a magic lives on.

But what if you are single and would like to pull the blanket over your head at Christmas and want to oversleep the whole party? Friends celebrate with their families, many single people may not even have friends and so Christmas Eve can be a very sad evening.

What helps in every situation and is always a remedy for unwanted loneliness: Get out and be among people!

  • Single - Short breaks
  • worship
  • Theater performances
  • Christmas concerts
  • X-mas parties ...

... but not everyone has the possibilities, the courage or the desire to do so.

You can use Christmas in different ways: maybe do all the things you do not have time for, so you can "clean up" and kick the New Year with less ballast.

One way of avoiding involuntary loneliness at home alone may be to find out in advance about where help is needed, such as: B. for Christmas parties needy. It may be helpful to have a look at the program of retirement homes or support services before and to offer help. Or you look around in the circle of acquaintances, if someone is alone and maybe even lonely: Party together!

Another option would be to spoil yourself! Cook something nice for yourself, festively set the table, perhaps enjoy a bubble bath after dinner, watch a favorite movie, listen to beautiful music, take care of yourself.

Or you completely ignore Christmas, renounce the Christmas tree and invite people from other cultures to spend a cozy evening of a different kind. A nice meal is not excluded. Contacts can be made through public agencies such as Caritas, DRK and the city administration.

There are so many ways to spend the Christmas Eve alone and who knows, maybe it will make connections for life.
