Glue paper flat on wood / cardboard without undulating

As Christmas is coming up, I'm already thinking about how to pack the gift for a friend who is very important to me: The actual gift should be decorated on a press plate as the substrate = background.

The press plate itself I want to relate with special paper that clearly refers to the recipient and the gift in itself, so should fall in the eye. For a long time I weighed up the different possibilities with which I can fix the paper over the whole surface of the press plate, without causing waves ....

There are many hints in the net, from UHU to wood glue to craft glue, hot glue gun or double-sided carpet tape, all of which have their advantages and disadvantages or which one would have to buy first. Since I sew a lot, but I have a double-sided adhesive material at hand, which is intended for permanently connecting special fabrics with other materials or with paper .... It is the so-called VLIESOFIX, which you can find in the well-stocked fabric store. .. can buy from the running meter. It is a very thin adhesive fabric on a special carrier material and serves to connect two "parts" (for example, fabric, cardboard and leather). It is washable at 60 degrees and also survives a dry cleaning.

Application:

  1. It is at first simply ironed on the back of the (my) paper (instructions are attached!).
  2. Then the protective film of the opposite second adhesive surface is peeled off, by means of this adhesive surface, the paper is then ironed on the support surface (here the pressing plate!) And thereby permanently connected firmly with her. I was able to do all the work on a normal table and did not even build up the ironing board.
  3. In the second = last operation, I have dispensed with ironing on the actually required wet cloth: Even today, the paper adheres smoothly undamaged smooth and firmly on my plate! The further shaping of the gift is now nothing in the way!

Advantage (if you have the Vliesofix ...) is also that you no liquids (sticky, smelling) or other accessories (brush, glass, storage space ...) needed (which also has a limited shelf life), but only scissors and Iron.

The Vliesofix I also use when I fix pieces of fabric on a finished textile as an application or my Christmas cards after the final inscription inside / and outside with a decorative piece of fabric (Christmas theme, cut out in a special shape!) Will: No more glue, but the VLIESOFIX! The letter survives the transport by the post immaculately-the textile provided with the application can be optionally washed or cleaned as desired after wearing.

By the way: The Vliesofix is also available as a 30mm narrow band (length 5m), which can be used to if you can not stitch or iron on the hem without stitching, slippery, thin or transparent fabrics: From the right side of the fabric you can not see any seams! This material is called "hem fleece" and is also available in the haberdashery section.
