Keep snails with salt from flowerpots

I have big pots and pots in the garden with plants that taste snails especially well (for example, trumpet trees). This year I had an idea that worked out great. No snail attack since spring with only one "application"!

I sprinkled transparent package adhesive tape with salt and then glued it with the adhesive surface outwards approx. 5 - 10 cm below the upper, outer edge of the pots. Streaking a strip once around and beginning and end over each other. Holds by itself, is barely visible and has weathered all weather. Apparently even traces of salt and the animals turn off.
