Maxl's ultimate snail defense

Nothing grows in my garden this year! Set plantlets are radically eroded, germinating seeds only reach a height of a few millimeters before being eaten away by snails.

Every day I collect, in a bucket and pour over with boiling water. I'm not proud of myself right now, but the thought that the slugs lay eggs and I will have them next year ...

The boiling water method seems to me most humane, because the snails suffer a second-death, unlike the slug, where they slowly dry up.

But now for the actual tip:

The slimy broth, after it had cooled, I tipped over the compost and discovered with astonishment that the snails shunned the compost.

Then I experimented. And yesterday I dared: I once bought broccoli plantlets (it was the third attempt), planted and given to each little plant something of the bucket contents.

So, and today in the morning, all plantlets were still there.

The tagetes were no longer eaten, as were the tomatoes (yes, even the tomatoes were gnawed to the stems). In the raised bed I used cucumbers, 6 bags of seeds and a few weeks ago dumped a bucket of slime into the raised bed - now I have at least 6 cucumber plants - not shredded.

Today I will buy salad plantlets and see if I can protect them.

No, the thing does not smell particularly appetizing. And it does not look particularly appetizing either.

But if it helps ...
