Menstrual cup for the prevention of vaginal yeast infections

The natural vaginal flora usually provides good protection against pathogenic germs. However, many factors, such as taking antibiotics, tight synthetic garments, or using vaginal tampons may interfere with vaginal acid balance.

This has the consequence that already existing or penetrating from the outside into the vagina germs can multiply excessively.

For a fungal infection of the vagina following symptoms are typical:

  • Itching or burning in the vaginal area
  • reddened and swollen outer genital area
  • yellowish-crumbly, "quark-like" secretions from the vagina
  • whitish deposits on the labia and clitoris

Applying a menstrual cup has no negative effect on the vaginal flora. As the blood is simply collected and not absorbed (absorbed), as in vaginal tampons, the vaginal flora is not affected and thus the natural protection against invading germs is preserved.

Information on the menstrual cup:

The menstrual cup has been on the market since 1937. It is a vaginal, invisible month protection made of medical grade silicone, TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) or latex. Unlike many other menstrual items, it is reusable for up to 10 years.

Benefits of the menstrual cup:

  1. Prevention of fungal infections by protecting the vaginal mucosa
  2. from the first menstruation suitable for all women of all ages, as available in different sizes
  3. invisible monthly protection, since the cup is worn in the vagina
  4. has never been linked to TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome)
  5. no restrictions in everyday life: very suitable for active athletes, because when swimming, the cup is not fully sucked, as is the case with tampons
  6. No replacement bandages or replacement tampons need to be taken
  7. larger capacity than conventional monthly hygiene
  8. contains no bleach, deodorants or absorbent gels
  9. easy to clean and use: fold and insert cleaned cup, empty after removal and rinse with cold water

Tips for traveling:

Many women simply urinate and use them again. Urine is normally sterile. Or wipe them with paper or a damp cloth (water and alcohol-based cleaning cloths) and put them back in place. Cleaning with clean water is also possible (water bottle).

  • With good care, the cup lasts up to 10 years and is therefore the much cheaper feminine hygiene product in the long run
  • Environmentally friendly: the cup does not produce any waste in the years of use: no plastic insertion aids, no packaging and no waste of used sanitary towels or tampons
  • hygienic: by sterilization (boil for 2-5 minutes in water), every woman has control over the cleaning of the cup
  • it is not required by others (cleaning staff in public toilets) to dispose of the used sanitary pads and tampons
  • Control over color, amount and consistency of the bleeding (self-diagnosis)
  • In some women regular pains become weaker
  • easy insertion of the menstrual cup even before the start of bleeding possible
