Multifunctional advent calendar made of hand-knitted baby socks

And again a Christmas tip from me, but also applies here: you can actually always need. And sometimes it's better, you start early ...

Namely, I introduce you to "my" advent calendar of self-made baby socks, which I prepare every year for my mother. It consists essentially of 12 pairs of socks and various decorative elements.

What makes this multifunctional?

Between two Christmas parties, the socks can be given away to good birth (of course, then must be "reworked" accordingly ...).
It can be processed in the handcrafted version great Wollreste whose use is otherwise rather less obvious. It represents a not to be despised decorative element and makes the room more Christmassy.

I'm assuming that the hand-knitted version is more likely to dare people who already know how to knit socks, so I'll save the socks guide. Less Strickwütige / -willige can of course also buy the socks. And of course it is synonymous with larger socks, but I think Babysöckchen look just the nicest.

Now again structured:

What you need:

12 pairs of socks.
24 small clothespins. (Bastelladen)
24 Streudeko-Dinger made of wood, preferably in the Christmas design (see snowmen / Christmas trees in the photos).
Bast (at best, a little boy).
24 Christmas tree hooks (s-shaped - maybe more for decoration).
A longer rod. (Hardware store or bamboo owner)
Mind. 1 roll of tulle ribbon. (Bastelladen)
To taste deco, it offers to themselves pearl wire cords, small tree balls or angel pendant.
And most importantly: filling to taste and ideas (for example, bath balls, small treats, gems, coupons - the imagination is only a limit set: the size of the socks).
Also: glue, a pin, attachment for the pole on the wall (if necessary, hammer in two nails ...)

How to do it:

First, stick the Streudeko things on the clothespins and label them with the pen - of course, numbers 1-24. Possibly fix the writing with hairspray.

Then fill the socks and tie them with the raffia. Now the data is attached to the loops or socks with the clothespins (For date-related fillings, the remainder is most easily numbered randomly).

Then wrap the rod with the tulle ribbon and fix the ribbon. If you want to work in something like the pearled wire, now is the time to wind it around the pole as well (advantage: provides more stability as soon as the socks hang).

Then the rod is attached. It should be noted that the weight of the filled socks and the other decoration can add up pretty much. With us, the two larger nails have proven in the wall, where we then tethered the rod unceremoniously.

Now it's time for the socks to be hung up with the help of the Christmas tree hooks. Thread the socks on one end of the hook (thread through between the sock and the bast), and hook the other end onto the wire, tulle or rod.

If you have attached all 24 socks, the rest of the decoration can be applied to taste. Again, the hooks can be of great help.
