The combination by means of a loop and the hands of a friend succeeded, but the whole thing was still very shaky. So again the hot glue gun had to be used. This was not a problem because I left the transparent wrap around each candy cane.
I did not buy the place cards completely, but cut out strong cardboard / sheet of writing paper in the proportions which I found to be good in my opinion, provided it with a valley fold, described it and finally folded it out with the beautiful side outwards.
