Profit from gambling and profit from performance

Hurray I won! There are people who solve many crossword puzzles every day that have something to win. There are also people who constantly publish tips on various portals, where there are vouchers to win (smile, grin).

There is a difference between gambling winnings and winnings. In the lottery and sports betting is pure coincidence of the profit. For crossword puzzles, quiz shows and tips, you have to do something before there is a profit. Then the profit is an income. By the way, vouchers are regarded as monetary income.

Do you have to report profits? At the tax or at the office, if you get unemployment or social assistance? At the tax office, winnings from gambling such as lottery and sports betting are tax-free. At the office it is already difficult. In principle, profits count as income there. If a Hartz IV recipient has won something, the following applies:

Hartz IV benefits are there for a living. Are there any additional income, so these are there to co-finance their own livelihood. You are an income to be considered? according to SGB II § 11. All income from profits are thus credited to the purchase of benefits. This must be reported in the month in which the profit (or profits) comes in. Then the amount will be credited and charged.

This regulation applies from one allowance from 100 euros monthly. But who has several profits per month, which together exceed 100 euros, must report this to the Office. The obligation to declare applies to all profits and any further income generated therefrom, such as interest.

For very small profits, the Hartz-IV-recipient has great luck: up to 50 € per year you can take the money and make it on!
