Rhubarb chutney with onion and apple

The cheese plate is a very tasty side dish is a chutney of rhubarb with raisins, onion and apple.

Rhubarb is often used as a topping for a cake, but is actually a vegetable from the family of the Knöterichgewächse.


You can quickly and easily prepare a delicious chutney from it.

ingredients

  • 500 g rhubarb, especially the red sticks taste good
  • 1 fat apple
  • 1 big onion
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 1/8 L of fruit vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons raisins
  • 1 teaspoon salt, fresh pepper
  • 1 tsp of mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

preparation

  1. The rhubarb is peeled or the long threads removed and cut into pieces.
  2. Likewise the apple and the onion.
  3. The fruit vinegar is boiled up with the sugar and the spices. Then add rhubarb, apple, onion and raisins.
  4. This is stirred for about 20 minutes, until you get a kind of jam. If the chutney is not strong enough, simmer for a few more minutes.
  5. Hot fill in screw jars. In the fridge, the chutney lasts for at least three weeks.

Delicious with cheese, especially the orange cheddar.
