Semmelschmarren to Grandma's Art

ingredients

  • 4 bread rolls
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/8 l of milk
  • 500 g plums or cherries, according to taste
  • 4 tbsp sugar-cinnamon mixture
  • about 150 g of butter lard

preparation

  1. Cut the rolls into thin slices, whisk the eggs with milk, pour over the rolls and leave to stand for about 1 hour.
  2. Halve the fruit and sprinkle with two tbsp sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  3. Heat clarified butter in a large pan and evenly distribute the bread dough in the pan, spread the fruit over it and lightly press.
  4. Fry over medium heat until the bottom is nice and crusty. Then tear into larger pieces, if necessary add some clarified butter, and sprinkle the remaining sugar-cinnamon mixture over it.
  5. Tear into smaller pieces and turn until the pudding is golden brown. Serve hot with custard or a caramel sauce.
