Of course, home-baked speculoos should not be missing, even an old family recipe.

ingredients

  • 500 g wheat flour
  • 2 proofs of baking powder
  • 250 g of sugar
  • 1 packet of vanillin
  • 2 knife tips of ground cardamom
  • 2 knife tips ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 drops of bitter almond oil
  • 2 eggs (or 1 egg + 3 tablespoons milk)
  • 200 g butter
  • 100 g of ground almonds or hazelnuts

preparation

Sift the baking powder into the flour and mix well, add the sugar, spices and eggs and stir everything. Then comes the butter cut into flakes and the almonds or hazelnuts. Cover everything with some flour, knead into a dumpling and finally to a smooth dough. If the dough is too sticky, it can be chilled for a while.

Now the dough is rolled out and gouged out with little molds. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper, place the punched out speculoos with some distance from each other and possibly decorate with nuts. Now in the preheated oven (about 180-190 ° C) and after 8-12 minutes, the first cookies are ready!
