Apple Dumplings - Recipe from the "Old Country"

Where to go with all the apples of the different varieties, when the things plop faster from the tree than you can pick up?

Here an uncomplicated recipe - inexpensive - nutritious and healthy, for apple dumplings. Kids like it.

Dough:

  • 2-3 eggs
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of liquid butter
  • 350 - 400 g of flour
  • 1 pound peeled and chopped apples - can also be roughly ruffled

Preparation:

  1. Mix the eggs with the milk, the melted butter, the sugar and the flour, mix the apples.
  2. Bring salted water to boil in a large, flat pot, cut dumplings out of the dough with 2 tablespoons and leave to stand for about 15 minutes. Never cook.
  3. Lift with the skimmer out of the water and keep warm in a bowl.
  4. Then again melt 100 g of butter and lightly brown 3 tablespoons of rusk crumbs in it. Give over the dumplings.
  5. If you like, you can serve a vanilla sauce or enjoy the dish sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
