Cat flap of a different kind without damaging the door

We have a cat that is used to exit. Unfortunately, we have no way in our new home a cat flap directly in the door to install, since our patio doors are all made of glass. These have double glazing, making a cutting would be very complicated and costly.

The following tip is a cost effective way to attach a cat flap in conjunction with exterior blinds. It also has the advantage that the door is not damaged.

My husband is very talented as a craftsman and always has good and practical ideas. This emergency solution for a cat flap despite glass patio doors is also an idea of him.

First he has measured the door width and cut a sufficiently large wooden board, which matches color with the blinds or door frames. This board was then fitted into the door lights. Then the hole for the cat flap was cut out and the flap was screwed in (or you can stick it depending on the cat flap used).

On each side of the left and right, 1 door driver was used, which was locked in the guide rail of the exterior blinds. In the lower part 2 round hooks were mounted, which are hung on the underside of the door frame. Thus, the cat flap is more stable.

On the top of the wooden board, an angle strip was glued on to ensure a tightness with lowered exterior blinds. Thus, from the outside, no cold air can penetrate into the interior of the living space. Then you can already down the blinds that concludes with the top of the wooden board. Through this system, our cat can enter and leave without help between the living room and the garden.

Of course, this cat flap comes to us only in the evening, when it is already a bit cooler to use, because there is also our living room. Before, we had left the door open only a crack, but it went in cold and it was uncomfortable.

At night, when we go to sleep, the cat flap is removed. It can be easily removed by pulling up the blinds and pulling the two locks out of the guide rails. We are very satisfied with this solution.
