Cheap cheese sandwiches with a twist

My husband recently mutated into a health-friendly cheese lover and although he loves the great variety and choice, but is often disappointed in terms of taste and price. Knowing his fondness for spicy and international food, I came up with something that really thrilled him (and me): cheese sandwiches with a spicy touch.

All purchased fortified cheeses are ultimately only (fairly neutral) cheese with spices / herbs.

The additions stand out and it also pays a much higher price than the cheese is actually worth: On average, 1 kilo of enriched cheese costs between 15 and 20 euros, with me z. B. Gouda / butter cheese to a maximum of 5 euros / kilo at any time and everywhere get.

We have a penchant for walnut cheese, cumin cheese, pepper and chili cheese. However, we usually miss the right pep and taste many cheeses do not keep what they promise: Spices are indeed to see and taste, the cheese is hard to taste.

At first I tried to melt cheese to spice it up to my own taste, it did not really work.

Then I came to the most obvious solution:

A slice of bread is spread with butter or margarine.

  • I'll give it a pinch
  • Chili or
  • Chilli flakes or
  • coarse grated pepper or
  • Moroccan spice mixture or
  • oriental spice mix or
  • Cumin (cumin) or
  • Italian herbal mixture or
  • Herbs of Provence / Garden Herbs or
  • paprika
  • ....

and cover the slice of bread with Gouda, butter cheese or Emmentaler - depending on your taste.

On our breakfast table are now always a few small spice shakers (larger holes than salt and pepper shakers) with the mentioned spices and we? since then our cheese bread to your own taste.

You can also sprinkle the chosen ingredient directly on the cheese.

Rough spices, z. For example, for the Moroccan / Arabian spice mixture, I have previously ground very finely, so you do not bite on hard grains.

Try it!
