Crochet chains as a decorative object or thread curtain

Chains of crochet slices, form a garland or (so my plan) a thread curtain, for the balcony door. Well suited to Wollreste recovery.

Recently, I strolled through one of my favorite deco shops and discovered crocheted, colorful garlands that I liked but were horrendously expensive. "Ha, I can do that myself!" I thought to myself and here comes the result.

It is wonderful to process leftovers, because the material requirement per "slice" is very low. So I finally get rid of the many small balls of wool, with which you can no longer manufacture large projects. Needle and thread thickness are basically arbitrary, I have worked with different strong yarns and needle size 3.5.

For old crochet bunnies, the production is very easy, even beginners can try it because you only need the three simplest types of mesh. Good videos for beginners are available online for free at "Nadelspiel", where all the basic techniques are explained very well.

It is worked in rounds. Each round begins with an airlock and ends with a chain stitch.

Abbreviations:

M = mesh

Lm = air mesh

fM = fixed mesh

Km = chain stitch

Depending on the desired size of the respective "Häkelscheibchens", can be terminated after each round. For me, the smallest slices are worked in two, the largest in five rounds.

Therefore, I describe the following, the production of the largest disc (for a smaller you can just finish earlier). After a round, the crochet piece is turned.

Beginning: Cast on 4 ch, 1 km into the 1st ch to the ring. 1 ch, 6 dc in the ring, 1 k crochet piece. (= 6 M)

1 round: Ch 1, double each of the 6 dc of the preliminary round, turn 1 K crochet piece. (= 12 M)

2nd round: 1 ch, double every 2 nd of the 12 sc in the first round, 1 kc turn crochet. (= 18 M)

3rd round: 1 ch, double every 3 rd of the 18 sc in the first round, turn 1 k crochet. (= 24 M)

4th round: 1 ch, double every 4th of the 24 sc of the preliminary round, turn 1 k crochet. (= 30 M)

5th round: 1 ch, double every 5th of the 30 sc in the preliminary round, turn 1 k crochet. (= 36 M)

The system is so simple and it can be used to make arbitrarily large slices: in the 1st round each, in the 2nd every 2nd, in the 3rd each 3rd stitch doubles, etc.

Then it's time to crochet to the chain. To take a color of your choice (white in the picture):

Beginning: Any number of lm work (I have chosen 10 lm each as a distance between the individual discs). Thread at any point of the slice at 1km (I'll just start from where I finished the last round, but it does not really matter) The border is just worked as the next round, following the same system as before:

6th round: 1 ch, each 7th of the 36 fM of the preliminary round doubles, 1 km (= 42 M)

Then work with Km along the edge, until you arrive on the opposite side of the disk (that is, half of the total stitches of the preliminary round, in our example 21). Again, work as many lm as distance to the next slice, connect the thread to the next slice, work again with fM around, etc.

Continue working until the chain reaches the desired length. Crochet the free ends always with the next round, so you can save the sewing. Finished :)

If the discs bulge too much:

Moistening the panes, pulling them into shape and pressing or ironing, that fixes the problem (I still have to do it at mine).

Use idea:

Either you use individual chains as decorative objects (garland), or you continue processing them. If you have many earrings, you could attach them to one of them.

My plan is to make several chains and make a string curtain for our balcony door. Crochet one log (length = width of the door) with dc and attach the chains to it. The distances between the discs I will vary in each chain so that the discs do not all hang at the same height.

Pearls will serve as a conclusion and to complain the individual chains.

Have fun!
