Fig chutney

If there are fresh or dried figs, I grab and prepare a spicy chutney. It tastes great with beef like roast beef, steaks, roast beef and game.

Like all chutneys, it's also very spicy with a cheese platter and of course a delicious "gift from the kitchen".

ingredients

  • 500 g of dried figs
  • 2 lemons
  • 125 g brown sugar
  • 150 g coarse mustard
  • 100 ml of red wine vinegar
  • 220 ml of red port wine
  • 220 ml of red wine
  • Salt and pepper (as rough as possible)

preparation

  1. The figs are cut into small pieces and soaked in wine, vinegar and lemon juice for about 2.5 hours.
  2. Then add the other ingredients and slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  3. If the figs are soft, pour the mass into sterilized screw jars, tighten the lid very tightly and turn it upside down to cool.
