Get rid of food moths III

After having had a heavy infestation of food moths in my old apartment about 5 years ago, I can imagine my shock when I saw a maggot crawling on my work surface in my new apartment where I live now for four years! I do not want to remember the fight back then.

I could localize the source, because I have only a single cabinet with few foods. There was next to cocoa, nuts and flour in glasses with screw cap, for about a week a cracked pack of ground almonds, only badly taped with a little tesa ...

So I put all the food in a garbage bag, sometimes with the glasses (no matter!) And lo and behold, in the back corner a small nest, as well as in the drawer above it, in the gap between the bottom and the back wall. The crawl also crawled ... All the worms were picked up with a kitchen roll and disposed of in the toilet.

I do not remember how I got it in my panic, but I got a spray bottle of chlorine cleaner from England in the hands and thought, done, I sprayed the two nests with it. As the cleaner foams, they were equally well covered. Have a little sprayed here and there on suspicion, including in these holes in the cabinet side walls.

The next day three more were running around, one on the work surface, one up the tiles and later one on the lower cabinet. Since I came to the fact that possibly could be yet another stove between cabinet and refrigerator. So again I sprayed on the floor on the gap between cabinet and device.

That was 2-3 weeks ago and since the 2nd day is rest! Of course, every morning and also during the day scared everything searched including blanket. The spray or chlorine in it seems to have been the killing blow.

Is not necessarily environmentally friendly now and who has pets, should be careful. In the UK, the spray is one of the most popular (there you do not see it that tight) and when I lived there I bought it regularly. When in Rome ... For a while I even allowed myself to be brought to Germany after I live here again. Then bought online. Now you can only find it on eBay for about EUR 12 including shipping from the UK, which of course is very expensive, compared to the original price. But if it helps ... All I have left is a bottle, which I use only rarely since I discovered these dirt eradicators a few years ago.

Ok, the stuff that saved me is called "Flash Spray with Bleach"Enter so on eBay. Also have pure chlorine (thick bleach) here (also from England), I would have tried that next.

Alternatively, could you try something like Chlorix? But there you have the spray foam (advantage) and I do not know how concentrated that is in comparison.

Again, NOT exactly eco-friendly, but a moth infestation is an absolute emergency, a full-blown disaster, right?
