Gyros with Metaxasauce

  • 600 g sliced ​​meat (I took schnitzel meat)
  • 1 big onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons of gyros spice
  • Salt pepper
  • 1 cup of sour cream (200 g) or sour cream
  • 1 cup of sweet cream
  • 5 tablespoons Metaxa
  • 5 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 red peppers
  • 250 g mushrooms

preparation

  1. First mix the meat with the diced onion, garlic, oil and gyros spice well. It is best to leave for 4 to 5 hours.
  2. Chop mushrooms and peppers, fry in hot oil for about 10 minutes, season with salt and pepper, set aside.
  3. Now roast the gyros until it's completely over.
  4. Add the vegetables, sour cream, cream, Metaxa and tomato paste and bring to the boil.
  5. Simmer the sauce for about 5 minutes, at low temperature, season with salt and pepper if needed, serve.
  6. Tasty French fries, rice or just baguette. Tastes great and is always a hit!
