Lucky charm at the turn of the year

Total preparation time: 40 min.

At the turn of the year 2012/2013 I conjured up these delicious lucky charms for the New Year's Eve and New Year's buffet and they arrived very well. Any dough can be used.

My favorite shortcrust pastry is this:

ingredients

  • 150 g margarine
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • Peel and juice of a organic lemon
  • 400 g of flour
  • 100 g cornstarch
  • 1 pck of baking soda
  • 1 pinch of salt

preparation

  1. Knead everything to a dough. If it is too dry, add some milk, if it is too moist, add some flour.
  2. Put in the refrigerator for 1/2 hour in cling film. Baking time: approx. 10 minutes at 180 ° C (preheated).

But now to the design of the cookies, that's what this tip really is about:

Roll out the dough for all figures shown on the floured work surface.

ladybug

  1. Cut out two circles for each beetle with a glass or round cookie cutter. Cut one wedge out of each of the two circles for the gap between the wings (see picture). Bake and let cool.
  2. Melt the chocolate in a water bath, in the meantime mix icing sugar with water and red food coloring to a glaze.
  3. Paint the red cast on the circle with the wedge cut out and sprinkle the resulting "wings" with sprinkles of your choice.
  4. Coat with liquid chocolate the head and the body of the beetle (complete circle without cut out wedge).
  5. Put the wings on the body as long as the chocolate is still soft. Let dry.
  6. For the eyes, mix a white, viscous frosting (powdered sugar, water). Using a wooden stick, apply two small blots to the eyes and place a mini sugar ball on top.

Glücksklee

  1. For the clover draw a template on paper or cardboard, cut out. Place on the rolled out dough and cut along the template with a knife. Bake, let cool.
  2. Mix a icing with icing sugar, water and green food coloring and coat clover with it. As desired with crumble, sugar pearls, chopped almonds / nuts or similar. decorate.

lucky

  1. For this I had cookie cutters, but you could in principle also make stencils like the clover itself. Bake, let cool.
  2. Coat the stems with icing sugar and water. Mix the rest of the sprinkling with red food coloring, brushing the mushrooms' hats with it. I also put some hats with melted chocolate.
  3. Sprinkle the hats with decor as desired.

lucky pig

  1. For each pig, cut out a large circle and two small circles. Cut one of the two small circles in half, in the other center two holes (for the "nose plug"). Bake, let cool.
  2. From icing sugar, water and very little red food coloring, touch a pink cast, brush the large circle with it.
  3. The two semicircles as ears, put the whole small circle as a trunk on the wet cast (see picture). Coat the ears and trunk with cast iron as well. Put two "chocolate drops" or currants into the mold for the eyes.

A happy New Year!
