Make umbrella more windproof on the balcony

On many balconies may not be drilled, so feet are often used for the parasol. But I did not want such a foot because of the already scarce space on the balcony and therefore bought a clamp holder for the balcony railing.

As my parasol (rectangle, 180x120 cm) swayed uneasily in the wind and the clamp loosened, I first provided the lower umbrella pole with a small flat surface by dividing an old pencil and attaching it to the umbrella pole with a ribbon of armor. Then some double-sided tape and a few pieces of Velcro tape over it (Photo 1)

At the point where the lower umbrella pole touches the balcony railing, glue double-sided adhesive tape and the other part of the Velcro strip. (Picture 2)

Now, the umbrella stick just barely fits through the tube of the clamp on the balustrade and can be clamped down. (Picture 3 and 4)

If the wind is not too strong, the glider will hold well, but in stronger winds you would probably close it anyway.

Needed:

double-sided adhesive tape
duct tape
velcro

Workload about 15 minutes
