Make (vanilla) eggnog yourself

Of course, I first used the search function to assure me that it was this (vanilla) eggnog-Recipe does not exist yet, because I (which surprised me somehow) found nothing, I'm glad that I can introduce it to you!

However, I add that it is not mine!


  • 5 fresh egg yolks
  • 125 g powdered sugar
  • 200 ml of cream
  • 100 ml white rum
  • 1 vanilla pod (or 2 tsp butter-vanilla flavoring)


  1. Stir egg yolks and powdered sugar with the hand mixer for approx. 10 minutes until creamy.
  2. Add cream and put everything together, open for another 7 minutes.
  3. Stir in rum and vanilla flavor for approx. 3 minutes. If a vanilla bean is used, it is scraped out and the marrow is stirred in.

I have to say that I have copied the time information from the original recipe, but can not understand. I did not stick to it, because nothing changes anymore after a certain time (neither consistency nor anything else), but I am not yet As much as some of you might enjoy, I would like to be instructed in this regard should one of you know why this might be necessary. :-)

Ahja, to the amount at the end, unfortunately I can not say anything specific, because the egg liqueur is pretty frothy after the preparation and it takes a while until the foam goes back. I guess that in the end it was about half a liter that came out.

Maybe someone has now wanted to imitate this really delicious recipe, I would be happy!
