Store ginger fresh for a long time
I often used to be annoyed that fresh ginger roots - once cut - become so woody or fibrous and dry.
And you need to cook because of the strong taste, actually always use only one finger wide.
Since I found the tip that my mother (I just say TheFruitAndFlowerBasket just;)) recently gave for once been helpful.
Wrap the sliced ginger in a slightly moistened piece of kitchen paper and then pack it into a cling bag, which in turn closes (with as little air in it as possible!) With a clip.
Then you can keep the ginger well 2-3 weeks in the fridge and it stays fresh.
