A similar recipe was brought back from an Australia trip in the sixties. Readers of the Kronenzeitung have spread the recipe in Austria a bit wrong.

For us, the boomerang chocolate cake is the typical birthday cake. On the second day it tastes like a great praline. However - it is a real calorie bomb!


In the picture to the tip is easy to see how old the "birthday girl" was, by the way, two marzipan mice missing.

ingredients

For the dough:

  • 400 g of sugar
  • 4 tablespoons of cocoa
  • 1 pck.Backpulver
  • 300 g of flour
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar
  • 1 generous pinch of salt
  • 4 tablespoons grated coconut
  • 250 g of margarine
  • 90 ml (about 6 tablespoons) of milk
  • 4 eggs

For covering:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 8 tablespoons of melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons very finely ground coffee
  • 2 tablespoons grated coconut
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar

preparation

  1. Mix sugar, cocoa, vanilla sugar, later grated coconut, add flour with baking powder and salt, finally the soft butter or margarine, milk, and gradually stir in the eggs.
  2. Pour dough into greased 28 cm baking pan or into a large tin pan, bake at 180 ° for about 40 minutes and allow to cool in the open oven.
  3. For the toppings, mix the powdered sugar with cocoa and sift, then add the grated coconut, vanilla sugar and coffee, stir with the melted butter and make creamy topping by whisking with the whisk. Cover the cooled cake and smooth the topping with a slightly moistened spatula.

A variety of decorations, for example, printed cake pictures or marzipan figures u.a.

(For kids birthday cake, you should omit the coffee.)
