Circular knitting for beginners - a tip

In this freaky autumn weather, I felt like knitting a beautiful winter scarf. A round scarf it should be and the wool is already waiting for me.

It occurred to me again, how totally in the pants my first attempt of the circular knitting went ...

I have my mother (knitting professional for decades) explain everything exactly (and supposedly understood) and motivated started. First everything went well, lap by lap, the scarf was wider. But then I noticed that the whole piece of knitting had mysteriously twisted in itself and was becoming harder and harder to knit and looked more and more frightening.

What had I done wrong? I had the stitches twisted in the first row! That not all stitches were uniformly aligned down the needle. Then, with a heavy heart, I began to rattle my first work and knit it right. The picture roughly shows what the first part looked like.

Therefore, my tip to all, who start with the circular knitting: Just make sure that when knitting the first rows always really all stitches are evenly down!

PS: In the internet I found out later that sometimes this twisting effect is wanted - the whole thing is called "Möbius-scarf" and it is not that easy to learn how to read. I was able to do that immediately and without instructions; o)
