Hand grinders buy: What should you pay attention to?
There are many hand grinders on the market. You basically have to differentiate according to the material from which they are made:
Plastic: is good for a filling salt or pepper; suitable for several fillings with dried herbs
Metal: suitable for pepper and similar hard spices
ceramics: suitable for salt and everything else.
The best grinders are - in my experience - produced by Peugeot.
We have had several mills for pepper for many years, recently a salt mill with ceramic grinder.
An important side tip: only buys at really good stores! Here in Wolfsburg it says: "Hols at Hohls". This is just a hint, not an advertisement!
