Irish brown bread (with baking powder)

ingredients

  • 3 cups wholemeal wheat flour
  • 1 cup of wheat flour (type 405)
  • 2 tablespoons of wheat bran, wheat germ and fine oatmeal
  • 1 tsp. baking soda and baking soda each
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 2 cups of buttermilk
  • 1 egg

preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Grease a box mold well.
  2. Stir ingredients and fill in the mold.
  3. Bake for about 60 minutes. The bread should sound a bit hollow when knocked over.
  4. Let cool on a grid.

This bread crumbles extremely, but is incredibly tasty with a slightly sweet note. It tastes best with salted butter and nothing else.
