There are a hundred occasions where you want an M threaded joint in the wood. There are special Einschraubadapter in the trade. Here's another way, which often works well.

Drill a hole about 6 mm deep with a 10 mm Forstner drill at the point in the wood in question. Then you drill through the wood with a 6mm twist drill and then knocks an M6 nut with some skill into the 10mm recess.

Depending on the wood sits the amazingly solid and is of course placed so that it is usually claimed only on train. So the M6 ​​screw comes from the other side (which of course is not always possible).

You have a screw connection that you can solve as often as you like. The attached picture shows a wooden cap made according to the same press-in method for a protruding M6 screw threaded part. The threaded cap should protect against injury and be easy to move by hand.
