slugs

I stopped fighting my slugs. It's hopeless anyway. But you can pretty well contain them.

  • If time permits, I pour in the early morning hours.
  • After a rain shower I try to loosen the earth with the three-way-tooth as fast as possible, that brings the Schneckengelege in the air.
  • Since I use no (!) Ferramol more, the Weinbergschnecken and Gehäuseschnecken multiply. They prefer dead material and nudibranch clutches. So are natural predators.
  • Furthermore, I have everywhere set plants that do not like the nudibranchs: Bleeding heart, grasses, ferns, balloon flowers, beard, carnations, Astilben, Lenzrosen, roses.
  • Where there is no other way, I put out hollowed-out pineapple, rhubarb leaves or the like and collect it every day.

The snails get a gentle Klapps and good wishes for the way back to the garden and the nudibranchs go together with subcarrier directly into the bio bin. It may sound hard, but I hate nudibranchs and unfortunately my garden budget does not allow me to eat snails.
