Clean windows without streaks - without much chemicals, plastics or electricity.
For all young people and those who try without strong chemistry, a lot of electricity and a lot of plastic to live, I describe my window cleaning method. I took her from my mother? Who in turn took her from her? already clear ...
Here in the Rhineland we live in the thickest pollen dust. We also have high levels of air pollution from lignite and other chemicals west of Cologne. Nevertheless, my windows are always completely clean with the mother method, although I only brush them twice a year.
For 4 medium sized windows you need:
- 1 spray of Spüli or neutral cleaner
- 1 bucket of lukewarm water
- 1 puller
- 1 softener-free cotton rag number 1 (for example, from old T-shirt) for the frame
- 1 softener-free cotton rag number 2 (for example, from old T-shirt) for the glass
- 1 softener-free cotton tea towel number 1 for the frame
- 1 softener-free cotton tea towel number 2 for the glass
With more windows, you may need to plan more rags and tea towels and replace the water in between.
The best time for window cleaning is on a cloudy but not rainy day. When it is too warm and the sun is shining, there are stripes when brushing. It is not a bad idea to schedule a wash after cleaning the windows, then you can put all the rags and tea towels into the machine you needed.
First, the windows are cleaned from the inside - this simplifies the flap management. It is also helpful to work quickly so that the water does not have time to dry.
From the neutral cleaner (simple dish soap goes too) gives only a splash into the hand-warm water. In no case overuse, the afterwards only stripes!
The water should have no standing foam on the surface when working, but only something "smoother"? wipe as clear water. Throw tea towels over your shoulder and put the rags in the bucket.
And there you go:
- Clean the window frame with cloth 1.
- Dry with tea towel number 1.
- Do not wring out rag 2 too much and thus clean the window pane. It may be a bit wet here
- Knit the tea towel 2 and press it over the edge between the frame and the glass so that the pane gets dry at the edges.
- Position the puller on the upper left side of the disk on the narrow, straight-dried surface and pull it downwards with slight pressure.
- Dry the rubber lip of the puller with tea towel 1
- Put the puller on the upper edge of the disc for the next lane, overlapping a few cm into the already dry area on the left side. Pull down with light pressure. Then dry the rubber lip and peel off the next web until the glass is dry.
- Repeat with the other windows first inside, then outside. Should a drop land on the already cleaned area somewhere, it is best done with a fresh dishcloth.
EXTRA TIP: The cloths and cloths are completely clean in the kitchen linen. The washing machine does a cooking at 90 degrees and too good. So that nothing turns gray even when using mild or eco-detergents, you can add 2 tablespoons of washing soda and reduce the amount of detergent accordingly.
