Falafel wrap - vegetarian

A nice afternoon with "Falafel": Last Friday, a colleague from Syria invited us to dinner, after work. It was a spontaneous invitation and we, my colleagues, gladly followed her. There was "Falafel", I did not know that before and was very excited!

ingredients

  • 250 g of white beans
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • ½ bunch of parsley
  • 2-3 tomatoes
  • Salad of your choice, cut small
  • Natural yoghurt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 liter of oil for frying

preparation

  1. Soak beans one day, if they have not been peeled yet, peel them off. Drain the water after one day, chop the beans very finely.
  2. Finely chop the onion and garlic and mix with the beans. Wash the parsley, drain and finely chop, add the cumin, baking soda and salt to the whole and season to taste with pepper.
  3. Either crush with a "rammer" or in the meat grinder again really good, which are no rough pieces left, and then rest for half an hour.
  4. While waiting, heat the oil in a large pan to fry. From the mass form small balls. In Arab or Turkish supermarkets, there are also scoops for it. So each ball is the same size and they are not expensive. It takes about 10-12 minutes for the balls to turn golden brown in the oil.
  5. Then thin, round bread (unfortunately I do not know the exact name). But there are definitely in the Turkish or Syrian market, with the falafel occupy and small "pick", that is, pull apart. Then comes salad, tomato slices, yoghurt and then the whole thing is rolled up and then enjoy is announced!

Was something completely new for me, which I liked very much and I look forward to the next meeting with Turkish, Arabic, Syrian, but also German cuisine with my colleagues!
