Herb bread - freshly baked tastes best!

Great to prepare on Sunday morning (when "Mutti" is already awake again and everyone else is still sleeping peacefully ...) or for an invitation ("Do not worry - Waaas you have baked bread rolls yourself, is not there !?")

For eight pieces you need

  • 300 g wheat flour (whether white flour or wholemeal flour)
  • 1 heaped TL dry yeast (= 3/4 packet)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 200 ml of lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • about 2 handfuls of herbs according to offer or whim (for example parsley, thyme, rosemary ...)
  • Flour for kneading

preparation

  1. Mix flour, yeast and salt in a mixing bowl. Press a trough in the middle of the mixture. Add water and oil, stir with some flour. Gradually stir in the remaining flour until a smooth dough has formed.
  2. Cover the dough with a cloth and leave for at least 15 minutes in a warm place. Knead briefly on a floured work surface and then knead with the herbs. Do not work in too much flour. Form eight balls, place on a baking sheet with baking paper, flatten slightly and cut in crossways.
  3. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes - while preheating the oven. Put a cup of water in the oven. Bake the rolls at 220 degrees on the middle rack for about 20 minutes. This fragrance - this aroma!
