Make chocolate bowls for desserts yourself

I have something very special for big and small sweet tooth. They are cups of chocolate for ice cream or dessert.

For this one needs:

  • Chocolate for melting, for example, couverture
  • Balloons (best water bomb balloons)
  • Saucepan and bowl for a water bath

This is how it works (please also take the photos as an aid):

  1. Melt the chocolate in a water bath and allow it to cool slightly, it should still be warm, not hot, if only because the balloon would burst. Lay out a baking sheet with parchment paper. Inflate the balloons, it is best with a pump, clean a firm knot and clean at least where the chocolate goes.
  2. Place a round blob of liquid chocolate on the baking tray with enough space for each chocolate dish. This will be the foot of a bowl. Allow to dry thoroughly, preferably by cooling.
  3. Dip an inflated balloon into the liquid chocolate and turn it slightly to create a uniform shell. Allow to cool slightly and immerse again, so that a second layer is formed and the wall of the shell becomes slightly thicker. If that does not work, the chocolate is too liquid, too warm. Then wait a bit.
  4. Put the balloon with the chocolate on one of the "feet", if necessary use a very small blob of chocolate as glue. Do the same with the other balloons. Keep the baking sheet cool and wait until the chocolate is thoroughly chilled. This can take depending on the ambient temperature, in the refrigerator only about 15 minutes.
  5. The balloon Not but let it pierce carefully close to the knot with a needle, alternatively stick a piece of adhesive film on the balloon and prick it carefully. If the air escapes slowly and the balloon has shrunk, carefully remove the balloon.
  6. Now fill the bowl with ice cream, dessert or sweets as desired. Use the rest of the chocolate for decorations.

I hope you get as much positive feedback as I did from my godchild. She was very excited and I'm allowed to make these things for her birthday. Incidentally, the photographed step by step guide this time on one of the back photos to see, I was asked drum.
