My favorite chutney with tomatoes
If you have a garden and grow all sorts of things, the harvest is always a surprise. Some things do not thrive, as desired, one has too much of another.
Should you ever have a tomato glutinous and possibly also your own apples and onions, then try my chutney:
ingredients
- 250g onions
- 1/4 L 5% wine vinegar
- 350 g of sugar
- 200 g of sour apples
- 1 kg of firm tomatoes
- 200 g of sultanas
- 1 tsp salt and hot pepper each
- 1/2 tsp pepper, chili and ginger powder each
- 1 pinch of ground cloves
?Preparation:
Dice the cubed onions with 4 tablespoons of water until glassy.
Add the vinegar, the sugar, the peeled and roughly diced apples, the tomatoes, the pre-soaked sultanas and all the spices.
Cook for 20 minutes while stirring. This results in about 5 small glasses - rather do twice the amount! :-)
Delicious with sausages, cheese, fried food, etc.
