Remove wax from glass container

Very many candles, especially the thicker ones, do not burn off properly, the wax runs over and becomes so firm in the vessel that it can be removed from the ground very hard and not without residues (eg lantern light).

Since December we have a big lantern (a piece of hollowed out log with glass insert). When the rather thick candle had almost burned down, the whole floor of the insert was completely covered with the remaining wax, which could not be detached.

I then poured so much warm water (no hot, otherwise the wax would melt!) Into the glass jar until the wax remains were completely covered with it. After 3 or 4 hours, the wax had completely dissolved completely from the glass bottom and I was able to remove it easily and completely!
