Rescue burned food
Here's a "basic tip" for new beginners: If you burn food while cooking - the smell speaks for itself - just do not stir in the pot, then you can still save the food! It has already formed a burnt layer on the bottom of the pot. When stirred, the burned-in mixes under the still edible part.
Better: remove the pot from the heat and transfer the contents to a new pot without scratching. Then continue cooking (but now watch out). So nothing tastes like burned.
