Make a Jew's harp

This is a little plaything for children's crafting. With several Jew's Harps you can organize concerts.

material

  • 1 empty matchbox, 1.5 cm high
  • 35 cm twisted thread
  • 2 buttons
  • 1 sewing needle

This is how it's done

  1. On the top of the matchbox comes a hole, with the sewing needle right in the middle.
  2. The thread enters the needle and is pulled from the inside through the hole.
  3. The buttons are knotted at both ends of the thread.
  4. A button comes into the drawer and it is pushed into the box.
  5. The other button comes in the mouth. You take it between your teeth and tighten the thread on the matchbox. The fingers hold the box by the side. Now pluck the thread with the finger of the other hand. If you keep the thread quite taut, the tone is brighter, if it is a little looser, it will be darker.
  6. To keep the box stable, you should tie rubber rings around it.
