Savoy cabbage with hack: Tasty, inexpensive, makes many people full.

With this recipe, twice the amount of savoy cabbage in meatballs is like minced meat. They taste very spicy, a little in the direction of cabbage rolls. When roasting, they are beautiful brown and look like "normal meatballs". I had a yield of 21 meatballs, 1kg of savoy cabbage and 500g of ground beef.

ingredients

  • 1 head savoy cabbage of about 1 kg
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 100 g breadcrumbs for binding as well
  • 100 g breadcrumbs (maybe a little more) for breading
  • Salt, pepper, sweet paprika, curry, chilli powder (1 tsp each)
  • Each 1 teaspoon chopped rosemary and thyme / fresh who has, otherwise dried
  • Thistle oil for frying

preparation

First, the savoy cabbage is cut in half, the stem cut out, the savoy cut into small pieces.

The savoy cabbage is cooked in a large pot of salted water for 20 minutes.

Then pour into a sieve and, as soon as it is no longer boiling hot, expressed.

I push a small pot into the sieve and squeeze the water out over the sink. The savoy cabbage must be squeezed out really well, so that the meatballs do not get too wet.

Now all ingredients come in a big bowl. To taste, I put a little of the mass on a saucer and cook them in the microwave for 6 seconds - I do not like to eat raw meat dough. So I can judge, if even more spices have to be on it.

I make meatballs about 5 cm in diameter and store them on a plate.

Now I pour some breadcrumbs into the big mixing bowl, turn the bowl, so that the walls are covered as well. The breadcrumbs stuck well to the walls because I just wiped the bowl with paper, not rinsed. I lay the meatballs on top of this layer and spread more breadcrumbs over it. So I save myself having to bread each meatball individually.

In a Teflon pan with thistle oil I fry now the meatballs. To taste boiled potatoes. I also like a spoonful of ketchup, but that's a matter of taste.

The leftover meatballs we put on the grill yesterday in the garden, they were called "Ah!" and "Oh!" eaten!
