Black currant jam

During a holiday in the Ore Mountains I received the following recipe from my landlady for a blackcurrant jam:

ingredients

  • 1 kg of ripe redcurrants
  • 500 g jam sugar (2: 1)

preparation

  1. Crush the washed and stalked fruits.
  2. Bring the fruit pulp to a boil with 500 g jam sugar while stirring and let it boil for about 3 minutes.
  3. Put the jam hot in glasses and store in a cool place.

According to my landlady in the folk medicine the jam because of the high vitamin C content as a very healthy food and has a preventative effect in case of ache and appetite.

The jam tastes very delicious!
