Catch mice alive

Catch mice with a bucket: The best results in combating mouse plague have brought a self-made, very simple live trap.

We feed birds in our garden all year round, unfortunately mice also like these good things. The Meisenknödel we buy in transparent plastic buckets, with a lid on it. When the bucket is empty, a hole about 5 cm in diameter is cut into the middle of the lid with a knife, the bait is placed in the bucket, the lid is pressed on and the bucket is placed in the garden.

If the terrain is flat, you can lean on a small wooden slat as a climbing aid, so that the mice get on the lid. As bait we used the usual birdseed and also put a few seeds on the lid. After 2 hours, three mice were in the bucket, which were released at the next opportunity at a reasonable distance: Just open the lid and tip over the bucket - ready!
