Prepare hydrangeas from the garden for dry bouquets

Now is the time to cut hydrangeas for beautiful bouquets from the garden. They still have their color. In a few weeks they will turn brownish.

I have a very simple way to dry these flowers:

I cut them diagonally, put them in a vase with little water - and "forget" them. i.e. I do not fill up with water. After 2 weeks, they are dry and durable, the colors still shimmer beautifully in old rose and in a like powdered-looking blue. They hold each other so much, very long. Especially in autumn, where cut flowers are again expensive, you can enjoy such a bouquet, which is also beautiful to look at roses. If you combine the dried hydrangeas with fresh roses in a vase of water, you should wrap the hydrangea stems in a plastic bag.
