Lycopene in tomato protects skin, antioxidant

If you drink a lot of tomato juice (2 glasses a day) and eat ketchup too much, you are doing something for your health.

The red dye lycopene, which not only in the tomatoes, but also z. B. in watermelons and papayas is a strong antioxidant that prevents many diseases, such as osteoporosis.

Lycopene effect

Lycopene is a special carotenoid with antioxidant properties that is attributed to protection against coronary heart disease and atherosclerosis. Carotenoids fight the free radicals on top of that. Since they are fat-soluble, a splash of olive oil is sufficient in the preparation.

Lycopene is heat-resistant, develops even in the heat only properly and is not lost during cooking, as it is known with other vitamins and minerals.

skin protection

I also find it very interesting that with people who eat a lot of tomato preparations, there is a certain amount of self-protection in the skin against sunburn. - Of course, this does not mean that you do not have to use sunscreen when drinking tomato juice. But it's a skin-support to people who work constantly outdoors or hobby gardeners.

The lycopene content is even higher if you eat not only the tomato itself, but processed tomatoes.

Ketchup, tomato paste, the popular juice for example.

And another good reason to drink tomato juice: it's filling - so it helps to fit in the jeans again. Every now and then drink a glass of it and you do not have the feeling of having an empty shopping bag in the stomach.
