Mohnorte - without flour! - always a success. POPPY SEED CAKE ? WALDVIERTLER

Simple mass. (I make 1 ½ times the mass) Can also be baked in a box - shape not too high, otherwise the cake / pie too long to be through

  • 14 dkg of butter
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 18 dkg of sugar
  • 18 dkg of poppy seeds rubbed
  • 7 dkg of grated almonds or hazelnuts
  • 5 Clear snow
  • 1 p. Vanilla sugar
  • 1 shot of rum (+ Rumaroma)
  • Cinnamon to taste
  • Butter for fatigue of the form and for glaze
  • redcurrant jam
  • chocolate icing

Stir butter with yolks and sugar until foamy. Rub grated poppy seeds and almonds / hazelnuts with the whipped egg whites (add a pinch of salt to the snow).


Season to taste with vanilla sugar, rum and cinnamon. The mass is baked in a greased, floured pie dish or cake pan.
In preheated tube. Approximately 160/170 degrees of gas. Leave pipe for about 10 minutes. After 40 minutes Needle sample already through. Usually it takes ½ hour more. You have to feel like you do it. Let cool down.

Allow the mixture to cool, cut once, spread with hot curd (mashed with rum).
