Be careful when changing the phone provider - cancel in time

In the course of this year, we said goodbye to our expensive landline and are now only using our mobile phones. This saves a lot of money.

From my own painful and expensive experience, I would like to give some tips for conversion.

The telephone provider, if possible terminate on time

With us was a notice period of 3 months. That means in practice that after the termination with mobile phone and fixed mains connection still further 3 months the basic charges incurred, although the connection no longer exists.

Payment of fees by a secondary supplier?

Example: The basic fee will be charged over z. B. A1 (for Austria). The call charges on another company (where you can allegedly save costs).

Since I was extremely surprised that it is only possible once a year exactly three months before the notice period to terminate the contract. Now we should or have to pay until July 2018 still monthly fees of 12 euros, where there is actually no landline connection.

So, whoever has such a second contract should quit as soon as possible. It may bring a few Euros and you just have to bother to check a second bill. So away with it!

Have you completed a cell phone insurance?

It happened to us that when we bought a cell phone several years ago, we had such a contract pressed to the eye. In the meantime, the device was not worth much anymore, but it still cost about five euros a month. But we totally forgot about this service and nicely repaid - blame, if you do not control.

Unlock mobile phone?

My old cell phone was one with a contract. Actually, it still worked perfectly and I wanted to continue using it with the new provider. Only there would have incurred 75 euros activation fees. Since it seemed to me then cheaper to buy a new device. What I do not regret after all, because technically a lot has happened.

Take old number to new phone and new provider?

Since you get a new number on the old connection and it still incurs the costs. Usually it is no longer needed. But even here you have to respect the notice period and now pay well.

My conclusion: If one plans to change the provider, all contracts and the additional contracts in due time, yes soon enough to cancel, otherwise fall for a time double costs. Also, from time to time you should check all existing agreements more often, because you do not need much more. So away with it!

And beware of additional providers, that saves little or no money and you lose the overview. And if you do such a thing, accept only cancellable contracts.
