Fly spray for horses

As every rider knows, now is the time of tiresome fly and brakes. All sprays commercially are very expensive, smell i.d.R. not very good and bring little.

Here is my recipe, tested today:

  • 500ml vinegar (no fruit vinegar that likes flies) + 500ml water
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic

Apply, leave for three days and then spray the horse.

Success against flying very well, moderately with brakes, brakes are anyway very special and there is almost nothing against it. My experience today, the flies just flew around it and just stopped in front of the horse. After the ride we sprayed again the sweaty areas of the horse, wonderful. The smell is of course not the finest, but quickly vanishes and is bearable.

When spraying the horse, please make sure that you do not spray into the eyes or on open wounds, vinegar is very burning!
