Ofenguck - baked mashed potatoes with cheese, onions & bacon

Ofenguck - baked mashed potatoes with cheese, onions and bacon from the baking tray. This is a delicious, inexpensive dish that my granny has often prepared in Franconia.

The name says it all: when baking a delicious smell pulled through the house, that you like to look in the oven to see what smells so good.

Every time grandma called Ella angrily - door to the stove, the heat goes out! Can not you wait!

That is how it goes:

You need for a baking sheet

1 kg of floury-boiling potatoes (for example Palatine Berber)
2 tablespoons flour
2 eggs
250 g of grated firm cheese (possibly Gouda)
3 onions
150 g bacon cubes
100 g of sour cream
knobs of butter

Salt, pepper, caraway and sweet paprika

The potatoes are cooked, peeled and processed into mashed potatoes. Mash or pass through the press. Allow to cool slightly and mix with the flour, eggs and spices.

Peel the onions, cut into pieces and fry until translucent.

Spread the mashed potatoes on the baking sheet and smooth. Then come the onions, the bacon cubes, and the grated cheese. The sour cream is spread over it and the butterflakes.

Bake at 200 degrees for about 35 to 45 minutes until light brown. Allow to cool slightly and cut into pieces.

This is a delicious lunch. My grandfather Artur drank a tankard of black coffee.
