Pests: Fire beetle, fight lily chicken
Those who love lilies, they know, the beautiful red beetles, (beetle, lily chicken) but are very bad pests.
They are very nimble and hide well and are usually hard to come by.
They once flattened a large bed of Madonna lilies in a week. I did not know what they were doing.
Every year I have laboriously tried to catch the bugs and get rid of them somehow. With moderate success ...
Last year, however, at the end of May, at the beginning of June, I discovered a piece of rocky, southern slope (about 5 square meters) near my garden, where they were crowds at the "wedding". They were completely stupid and so easy to catch, that I could pick up and "dispose" almost every time on the way to the garden in full sun. In about 10 days I have certainly caught more than 300.
In any case, there were still some in my garden after all, but there were so few that they could hardly do anything to my lilies. I also got the couple.
This year I will be watching exactly when it starts again. And then "WAMM" ... I can only recommend ...
