Yeast with buttermilk

Ingredients for the yeast cake with buttermilk:

1000 g of flour (type 405)
500 ml buttermilk, room temperature
250 g of liquid butter
200 g of sugar
2 sachets of dry yeast
1 pinch of salt
1 egg yolk
granulated sugar

Preheat the oven to 175-200 ° C.


Knead the flour, the buttermilk, the butter, the sugar and the dry yeast together and let them rise for 30-40 minutes.

Then divide into three equal parts, braid a braid and press the two ends together. Let go of the braid for another twenty minutes. Then sprinkle with egg yolk and sprinkle the hail sugar over it. Bake on the middle rack at 175 ° C for about 45 minutes. (Alternative to hail sugar: almonds)
