Some time ago, while browsing, we found this simple recipe for a cotton cake from 1939, written by my husband's grandmother. We were very curious and I tried it out right away.
From the result we were very excited - it was a wonderfully loose box cake that actually tasted like cotton! From now on, of course, I had to bake it more and more often! That's why I would like to pass on the recipe here.
ingredients
- 250 g of sugar
- 5 eggs
- 250 g potato flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 50 g butter
preparation
(The preparation is very simple).
- First preheat the oven to 185 ° C.
- Sugar and eggs are beaten foamy in a not too hot water bath, then the potato flour is added and carefully stirred.
- Finally, the melted (but not hot!) Butter is stirred under it. Now the dough is filled into a long box shape and immediately baked for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven (please make a stick sample!).
- Then let it cool down a little before it is released from the mold.
Happy cakeday!
