Juicy spice cake according to Grandma's recipe

ingredients

  • 125 g of butter
  • 300 g of sugar
  • 4 whole eggs
  • 125 - 150 g melted block chocolate
  • 150 g of ground hazelnuts or almonds
  • 150 g of flour
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground clove
  • about 125 ml of milk
  • (NO baking powder is needed)

preparation

  1. Stir fry the warm butter with the sugar. Gradually add the 4 eggs.
  2. Melt the block chocolate in a small pot at a very low temperature (you can also use a water bath) and stir the chocolate into the mixture while still warm.
  3. Mix the ground nuts with the spices and the flour and put them into the dough.
  4. Depending on the strength of the dough, dilute with 125 ml of milk. Can also be slightly more milk, depending on the strength of the dough and size of the eggs. One knows approximately, which consistency a cake dough should have.
  5. I always bake the spice cake in a springform pan at 170 degrees (top bottom heat) or 160 degrees (circulating air) for about 1 hour.
  6. Box cake is too small, overflows! Gugelhupfform I have not tried.
  7. At the end you can decorate with chocolate sauce as you like.
