Peel salsify - no brown hands

We love to eat salsify, but preferably fresh from the garden. I was always bothered that the hands were very brown and sticky when peeling the roots. The then taken gloves looked accordingly.

I do not remember where I read this tip, but for me it was very helpful.

Well, the tip that I have tried and that moves me to bring more salsify again on the table. He is actually quite simple.


The salsify roots are brewed with boiling water, so to speak. Leave it in the water for about 5 minutes and then peel it off as usual. Immediately place peeled salsify in cold water with vinegar so they do not turn brown.

My hands have stayed clean and do not stick as otherwise.

Try it, because I did not want to believe it either. But it works great, why can not I say.
